Hard at working writing...

N8 Wonder

I'm soul...

Today lunch was from one of my favorite A-town spots, Q-time.

Nate Wonder jokes about how often I eat soul food, (which is really
only like once a week or every other week) so he created a ranking
system for me to rate soul food meals.

I give this meal...

3.5 out of 5 "Souls"

-Points deducted for being a bit stingy with the yams.
-But this was the best cole slaw I've ever had (and I don't really
like cole slaw)
-The fried whiting (fish) and BBQ wings were fie.

Step your lunch game up...

S.U.M.M.I.T.: The Sum of Uniquely Made Magical Ideas and Thoughts

Overview: Born out of the Imagination Campaign, we "The Imagineers", seek to find the solutions to the problems we see in our communities in our collective consciousness. We're inviting all thought leaders to join us during this summit as we use our collective imaginations in a wickedly fun environment to promote freedom and problem solving.

This summit, like the ones that will follow will have a theme! This summit's theme is "Coloring Outside the Lines". Bring your ideas, imagination, and excitement to this summit! As we listen to some great music, and enjoy the infamous Wondapunch we'll be discussing the problems in our respective communities. All you need to do is bring your ideas, imagination and excitement!!!

During this S.U.M.M.I.T. we'll be voting on the most creative and effective idea to solve any of the discussed problems.

We'll conclude this "WONDAofakind" NYC S.U.M.M.I.T. at Thursday's show at the Highline Ballroom in NYC , where Janelle Monáe will be announcing to everyone the imaginative solutitions and ideas that spawned from the S.U.M.M.I.T. and our S.U.M.M.I.T winner!

Ok, we know you're excited now, and we CAN'T wait to see you there! Oh, and make sure you bring your pen!!! (Hudson Hotel Libary, NYC 7:30-9:30)

If YOU got any problems or issues you wanna discuss with some imaginative minds during this NYC S.U.M.M.I.T. send us a message and we'll talk about em!

Far from NYC, no worries, we're coming to you soon!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!

Being "Busy" is so 2007.

I woke up this morning with 50 matrillion things on my mind as always. I thought about all of the things I have to do today; the work i need to get done, the people whose calls I have to return, what I want to eat, the meaning of life, etc.

My mind settled on a conversation I had with a friend a couple of weeks ago about how tired I am of hearing people talk about how "busy" they are, and how tired I am myself of telling people how "busy" I am.

It's seems that as of late, and maybe it's just my peer/age group, everyone I talk to loves to mention how "busy" they are. I mean, it kinda makes sense that post-graduate twenty-somethings and early thirty-somethings are fervently chasing their dreams and goals, it's just the constant mention of "being busy" that is played out.

Therefore, may this serve as my official petition to outlaw the mention of how "busy" you've been in casual conversation.

What I concluded was that the constant mention of "being busy" serves many purposes:

-A defense mechanism/deflector:
Either you're not really doing much and this is a way to divert any further inquiry into your "business" from whoever you're speaking too, or you just don't feel like going into detail at the time about what you have or haven't been doing. Real small-talkish.

-A gateway to bragging:
You say "I've been so busy man..." followed by all of the awesome things you've been doing. Hearing yourself say out loud all of the things you're doing and talking about how busy you've been may boost your self-esteem momentarily. This is that self-validating "I've been busy" This is very common. This response is often given even when the question is "how have you been/how are you doing?" rather than "what have you been up to?" If I ask "how are you/how have you been?" I want to hear "fine," "good," "ok," "not so great," or "fantastic!" not everything that you've been doing...unless I specifically ask. Let's hear how you feel, or what's on your mind, rather than what you've been doing. I'm not interested in blackberry-ish/iphone-ish conversation.

-An excuse for not hitting someone back: This pertains to friends, family, business, and that girl/dude you're trying to holler at. You just don't have enough time!... However, this application of mentioning"being busy" is total bull$#!+. You're not too busy to hit up your mom, or get back with that person who's trying to get a meeting with you, and that girl/guy you're calling isn't too busy to return your texts and calls. People make time for what they deem important. You don't have time to call your mom, but you stay on the phone with that girl (or those girls.) You've been too busy for that meeting, but you have time for somebody's meeting. And that girl you're chasing is gonna keep hitting you with the "I'm sorry, I've just so been busy," but let's be real, she's returning somebody's text and calls, just not yours. The whole beginning of trying to "holler" at someone is convincing him or her that you're someone they should make time for.

Now, I have been both victim and culprit to each and every one of these scenarios, but I'm just so very over it. I'm just bored both of telling people how busy I am and hearing how busy they are. I'm for real. So let this serve as an official petition to outlaw talking about being "busy" in '08 and beyond. Also outlawed are the phrases "grinding," "on my grind," "workin' hard," "hustlin,'" "gettin' money," or any variation of the above... BORING!!!

Your response will be greatly appreciated, and will serve as an official signature for this petition...

Unless you're just too busy.

To my dearest L.A. supporters:

I want to personally THANK YOU for being you. In speaking with you at the Meet & Greet (trying to come up with a better name:)) I was so thrilled that I got a chance to experience your genuine warm hug and bright smile. I was really excited about meeting all of my L.A. supporters in "The Chase"... in a more intimate setting, and it happened.;)

You came to the Key Club with the intentions of making sure that your love, energy, and freedom were heard and felt, and indeed, it was! I felt it all on stage! I tried to stay focused, but I just couldn't stop smiling after hearing you guys' voices in the audience. It made me, Kellindo, and Young Pete give even more. I can honestly say, that we have some of THE BEST supporters. Period.

You guys made your point. The L.A. "tastemakers', "industry vets", and spectators, all got the message. "The Chase" rules and owns everything around!;)

I am highly grateful for your support of The Wondaland Arts Society and me. You guys have helped and still are helping us build this movement.

To my supporters all over the land, I hope to make you all proud. And again, THANK YOU.

Let us continue to alter history my friends...

Sincerely,

Jane.

P.S. Thank you Sean and Big Boi for introducing me. Love you guys!

Janelle Monáe on CNN Right NOW!

Hey guys watch CNN and CNN Headline News right now and all day where they're featuring the 500 Songs for kids foundation.

I was proud to be a part of this event and I'm glad that they had a chance to show my remarks and some of the interaction I had with the children at the hospital.

Here's another segment -- a little shorter than the one that ran on television:

Thanks to all of you who came out to the event last Thursday, the event is still going on until May 10th at Smith's Olde Bar in Atlanta.

Please go and support. These children need our help!

Imagination inspires M&M Eugenics. Future sport?

Whenever I get a package of plain M&Ms, I make it my duty to continue the strength and robustness of the candy as a species. To this end, I hold M&M duels.

Taking two candies between my thumb and forefinger, I apply pressure, squeezing them together until one of them cracks and splinters. That is the "loser," and I eat the inferior one immediately.

The winner gets to go another round. I have found that, in general, the brown and red M&Ms are tougher, and the newer blue ones are genetically inferior. I have hypothesized that the blue M&Ms as a race cannot survive long in the intense theater of competition that is the modern candy and snack-food world.

Occasionally I will get a mutation, a candy that is misshapen, or pointier, or flatter than the rest. Almost invariably this proves to be a weakness, but on very rare occasions it gives the candy extra strength. In this way, the species continues to adapt to its environment. When I reach the end of the pack, I am left with one M&M, the strongest of the herd.

Since it would make no sense to eat this one as well, I pack it neatly in an envelope and send it to M&M Mars, A Division of Mars, Inc., Hackettstown, NJ 17840-1503 U.S.A., along with a 3x5 card reading, "Please use this M&M for breeding purposes." This week they wrote back to thank me, and sent me a coupon for a free 1/2 pound bag of plain M&Ms.

I consider this "grant money." I have set aside the weekend for a grand tournament. From a field of hundreds, we will discover the True Champion.

There can be only one.

Downtime

Iin the dressing room between shows at the Atlanta Ballet's production
of "BIG" this past Sunday.

JM and Scar check their phones while Kellindo gets his nails painted
(black).

Nate Wonder makes a play for the popcorn.

I watch on.

Me and the Tutu!

Things are moving, but I had to type quickly from my phone and Thank
You. Thank you so much for supporting me today, right now...

Thank you for supporting my music, my message, my dreams...

You play a huge role in my life and career.

Thank you for supporting the "big" ballet production at The Fox
Theatre (even those there in spirit) over the last 4 days. It was a
wonderful experience for me. I needed that energy. I have learned so
much. I feel better so much better knowing what I know...

I went into the production willing to give myself and take away
knowledge from the beautiful art form that is, ballet.

Singing and walking on my toes wasn't easy and in fact took lots of
time and practice. Choregraphy isn't apart of my normal routine on
stage, so learning how to adapt was also a challenge I wanted to take
on.

I really hope someone was inspired...

Thank you Lauri (choreographer) for helping push my vision.

Thank you Big Boi!:) We had such a great time! Loved how you just
stormed in my dressing room!;) gracias Atlanta ballet dancers/artists,
it's such an honor to be near others with similar energy. I will be
pointing my toes even harder now!

To my tutu, I miss you and did not want to ever take you off! I love
ballet attire.

*My mom's in town so I need to go back to enjoying her warm love and
cooking!

See you at Criminal Records for Record Store Day (April 19)! I will be
in "experimenting on stage" mode...
