i don't think nas is trying to change the meaning of the word he is trying to bring light to the legacy of white supremacy, and how white supremacy is the main cause in ruining neggas lives. Basically he’s saying yall krakkers is messing ish up for everyone the song is fresh nas is on point
hum.... The Real Niggas are the ones we don't see behind the curtain. There is a bigger picture here and unfortunately NAS didn't really hit on it. It's a tad bit one sided. The Real niggas are the few people at the top that seek to control the entire world and thus destroy your soul and keep your spirit in captivity, separating yourself from your divine nature, with their twisted society. Convincing us all that there are Black People, in the first place. I'm an Earthling at the current moment. if you have to look at the past to define what you are rather that, the now, then prepare yourself for some limitations and some dumb ass politics to go along with it... BE.... and that is all. NOW is all you HAVE!
If this is Nas' best creative venture then I'm torn. I get the bulk of his verses but the Eminem tactic isn't making my brain ooze. After watching Scarface twice the f-word is no longer as frickin cool...
Torn on the usage...but hey Dick Gregory did it too. I will say from the songs I have heard his treatment of the overall issue of race relations be it "Black President" or "Fried Chicken" aren't totally disappointing. Its just this is a loaded sort of topic, thats probably more fitting on a Cornel West record. After 2 1/2 Seasons of Chapelle and Boondocks, i'm becoming somewhat ambivalent to any display of niggotry at this point.
I don't think he drives in any particular point about the N-word too deeply. It's mostly all shock value really
